I was curious what your experience has been with your pediatrician regarding circumcision.

Ours were opposed to circumcision unless absolutely necessary as a medical imperative. That, unfortunately, is the misinformed, pevailing view of most (but not all!) family doctors in the UK.

Nor would they refer us to a doctor or pediatrician with a different opinion to theirs. It was a man and wife practice who otherwise gave us excellent care and attention. We liked them very much so it was difficult to argue, despite our conviction, based on our experience of my circumcised status that our boys should also be circumcised.

The doctors, a man and wife team, are both retired now, but I would like to confront them with the article I've just posted today under the 'Links to News and Information' section. In defence of the woman doctor, she was slightly more pro circ than her hubby, but isn't that often the case?

I hope others will pitch in here with more positive reactions from their pediatricians.

Mine was pretty neutral about the subject, didn't try to steer us in one way or another. I don't think I would do that well with a pediatrician that was very strict on issues like that, I want one that is willing to listen and work with me as a team.

I'm glad that they gave you excellent care other than that.
