I was wondering if it was a mutual decision or if one of you had to convince the other.

I refused to allow DS to be circ'ed. SO's first son was, he didn't understand why I wouldn't want it done. He finally relented only because he knew it was a hill I was ready to die on, and since we are not married he didn't really have any say in the hospital with what would happen. They would not go against my express wishes and I made it very clear, repeatedly, that my son would remain intact.

Now he's accepting of it but still doesn't see what the big deal was to me. Our son will thank me down the road. Or not, but it's his penis to do with as he pleases.

Kristi...

"I'm in a very pro-circ state."

'State' or 'state'? I doubt the latter! :smileywink:

Thought I would add that of the people I know who have recently had sons, the most common reason given FOR circ'ing was that the father was circ'd.

My kids' father was one of the few boys born in the 50s who wasn't circumcised.

Well, I am the DH - and ever since the age of six when I discovered that I had been circumcised, I have been more than a little upset about it.

The decision was eventually mutual.

I hadn't even thought about it either way and dh (circ) asked me what I thought. He said he had been looking into it and didn't think it was a good idea. I wasn't sure, like I said I hadn't thought about it at all yet, so I told him to send me some links and any info he had. Of course after reading that stuff I was sure I didn't want to do it. By that time dh had started to second guess himself but it was more out of fear of what our families would think or say and he got over that.

Luckily we never fought about it or anything. After educating ourselves about it there was no question. We're so happy we didn't do it and now we have two intact sons.
