Amazon Drones

The drones, which Bezos says are possibly 4-5 years away from making their debut, have to wait on the FAA to catch up with Amazon by reworking unmanned aircraft laws for the U.S. In the meantime, Bezos admits there are still a few bugs to be worked out: "The hardest part here is working out all the redundency, the reliability ... this thing can't land on sombody's head while they're walking around the neighborhood."

So while it may be a little while before the Jetsons comes true, the possibility of ordering a product on Amazon and having it delivered by ROBOT within 30 minutes, seems to be happening sooner than later.

Just imagine: a world where you can order a pizza, subsequently order Die Hard on Amazon and have the DVD delivered before the pie.

Amazon Delivery Drones Are Coming Sooner Than You Think

Wow!  What do you think about Amazon using drones like this? Do you like the possibility?

I'm pessimistic that this will occur that quickly, not to mention how dangerous this could be. I'd have to be pretty convinced before I'd welcome this with open arms.

I'm skepical that this could be any more cost efficient than having things delivered via truck. But when it comes to pizza delivery, at least I wouldn't have to tip my drone.

Insurance nightmare.  Not likely.
