Death of Nurse in Royal Hoax Call

Updated at 8:55 a.m. ET: CANBERRA, Australia -- Two Australian radio announcers who made a prank call to a British hospital treating Prince William's pregnant wife Kate broke a three-day silence Monday to speak of their distress over the death of the nurse who took their call.
The 2DayFM Sydney-based announcers, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, said the tragedy had left them "shattered, gutted, heartbroken."
Greig and fellow presenter and prank mastermind Christian have been in hiding since nurse Jacintha Saldanha's death and the subsequent social media outrage at their prank. Saldanha's is being treated as unexplained while an investigation takes place.
I've read this morning that this radio show has now been cancelled. Do you think that's the right course of action, given the situation?

It is a very sad. I feel for the family & friends of the nurse, for the hard-working nurses at the hospital, for the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge.
The radio announcers broke the law. They attempted to obtain private information by fraud, by impersonating a living person and DID NOT inform the nurses they were recording their conversation. They then played those conversations,without permission.
They might have thought it was funny and it was a prank but pranks have consequences and many times, the consequences are not that funny for the victims.
So, yes the show should be cancelled. This is not the first time these announcers have crossed the line.

2Day FM, the Australian radio station behind a prank call to Kate Middleton's hospital plans to donate money to the family of the nurse who was found dead after the hoax.
Last week, nurse Jacintha Saldanha transferred a call from two Australian DJs posing as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles to a colleague. They were given confidential information about Kate Middleton's condition. Saldanha was later found dead in a suspected suicide, with many alleging that the hoax led her to take her life.
BBC reports that 2Day FM will donate its advertising profits for the rest of the year to a memorial fund to benefit Saldanha's family. At least 500,000 Australian dollars (£320,000) will be donated.
