Prisoners can pay a hundred dollars a day to stay in the upscale city jail in Seal Beach, Calif., where they have access to computers and flat-screen TVs. NBC’s Mike Taibbi reports.

Wealthy criminals pay to stay in fancy prison- http://www.today.com/video/today/52733825#52733825

What do you think of this pay-to-stay program that this California jail is using to make extra money?

What an absolutely ridiculous idea. Prison is supposed to be a punishment, not a vacation. What kind of lesson is this teaching to criminals-that if you have enough money you don't ever really have to suffer? Where is the deterent for crimes here??

I personally agree with Nancy.  Prison is supposed to be punishment, not a vacation.

However, I asked a friend who works in a prison what he thought.  He was all for it.  He said it would keep them busy/occupied and that would make for a better environment within the prison.  Not sure I agree with that but then again I've never been on the inside. lol
