How do these start? How do you know what's true and what's not?
I'm in the minority b/c I rarely start something unless I've witnessed it first hand. I'm also a skeptic, If I hear something that's too good to be true it probably isn't. Another example, DD attended a dance last night and posts showed up on her facebook that got stretched out of proportion, Oh the soup kids get into, Lol!
I know people talk and I know some gossip is normal, Is there a breaking point when stories go too far? What annoys you the most?
Thoughts?
I agree wholeheartedly. We in the US have allowed privacy to become null and void. We do not have strict laws on privacy. FaceBook is famous for tricking it's members into situations that are dangerous. While on one side FaceBook has taken the place of talking, whining ,venting face to face it has not been proactive in protecting the members.
I totally agree. My kids know not to post anything that they wouldn't want on national TV and DD in particular really tries to limit her online presence (tight FB privacy settings, no twitter account, etc.)
What I find most disturbing about our culture is the idea that if you are modest about your life and don't want to share everything, you're somehow abnormal. It reminds me a lot of Orwell's "1984," which my kids' school just did as a play. The main difference is that we don't need Big Brother watching us from a screen because we spy on ourselves and then tell everyone what we see!
