Writing Thank You Notes
Fri, 12-27-2013 - 11:37am

Between researching it, buying it at the store, and wrapping it up, giving aholiday or birthday gift is no small effort. I think the time and thought put into it should be answered with some kind of grateful gesture, preferably, yes, an old-school handwrittenthank-you note of yore.

What do you think? Should kids write thank you notes?  Do your children send them out?

When my kids were small they'd write thank yous for birthday gifts, Christmas not so much but we'd acknwoledge the gifts with a call or email to whoever (family) sent it.

When my kids were small, the only Christmas gifts they received were from their parents or their aunt. And all gifts were open infront of the giver. A hearty "gee thanks" and a hug was much more of a thanks than some thank you card.

Now, we still continue the practice that all gifts are open infront of the giver.
