Are these, as C. ("Tingles") Matthews proclaims, the three scariest words in the english language?

On the one hand I'd like to see those religious fundamentalists get what they deserve - she would be like a train wreck as a president IMO. BUT I still have to live here so on the other hand I think her running would get a whole lot of people who are just complacent to get off their tushes and mobilize against her. Seriously, after she quit her job as governor I just don't understand why she is still taken seriously. I just can't imagine a democrat being able to do that and still consider running for president. It really boggles the mind. Not to mention the fact that the never ending saga of her family and the media just don't quite paint the picture of a presidential family - especially when you consider the flack that Michelle got for wearing shorts on Air Force One. The whole Palin issue seems like one big train wreck to me.

Yes, as a liberal, I think "President Sarah Palin" would be among the scariest three words. But, "Republican Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin" would probably be the five most welcome.

Interesting thoughts, both of you. Thanks for posting.

I am mixed in my feelings...but I REALLY ENJOY watching Tingles get a little worried.

I don't think I would use the word "scary." If she runs and wins, the people will have spoken, and that is democracy in action. I do find it slightly mind-boggling that American politics have come to this, however. Her win would, to me, be an indictment of the polity and the policies that have gone into producing such a polity.

Interesting. Will you explain your feeling that it would be an indictment of the polity and the policies that have gone into producing such a polity?

I don't know if you're expecting someone to defend Matthews, but he's not exactly a favorite of those on the left, either. Frankly, I don't think many people think about him much one way or another.

And I think many people confuse liberals' fear of a Palin presidency with fear that she could win. The former is definitely scary; the latter is not too much of a concern right now. It's kind of like people who are afraid of flying - they don't really think there's much of a chance they're going to crash, but, if they do, the results would be disastrous.

Not expecting anyone to defend him, or explain him away.

It seems to me that Matthews is fearful of her winning the nomination in the video. Do you agree?
