WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Is Sen. John McCain too old to be president? Listen to some Democrats, and you'll think the 71-year-old Arizona senator is a man lost in a perpetual fog. He is "confused" and has "lost his bearings" or is "out of touch."

Confirmation bias isn't about being one sided, its about believing whatever confirms your belief you are right.
"The irony of calling me on making a purported smart ass comment in response to a smart ass comment from Pres Reagan we can leave for another time."
So yours was a "purported" smart ass comment, but his *was* a smart ass comment? Why's that?
Exactly.
ALWAYS a slant on what was meant.
And we are always idiots who don't understand.
I'm not saying either were smart ass comments. I'm saying you don't get to determine one was, and the other was not.
If mine was, so was his, in which case its not rude -- or rather merely rude in the same proportion as the original.
Or his was not, in which case neither was mine.

Nah, you aren't an idiot if you don't understand. But when someone clarifies what they meant when you misunderstand and you insist that your verison of what they meant is more accurate than their own -- well, THEN you just might get there.

Apparently about as much time as you have.
