Well, my predictions were correct about what Obama would do if he got into office; spend more money and ban our guns.

I agree with Sen. Paton, we need to enforce laws we already have and beef up border patrol so our guns will not get into the hands of the mexican drug cartel.

in those 10 years that the ban was in effect, were all the problems discussed here remedied?

were there less violent crimes, and less (gun)homicides?

i'll go look too, but if you know, id love to see it.

oh! nnononoono....my bad....

i meant in that they (gangs) are an organized group of individuals who seek to do harm or battle, and will do so with any means necessary....in that interpretation, they will kill with whatever weapon they have, so take away thier favorite, they will go for the next in line.......and still commit the same crimes

They may not be able to take out quite as many people if they have cruder weapons.

I think the only thing a gun ban will do in the case of gangs and drug cartels is give the ATF more power to seize large weapons piles, shipments of imported weapons, etc.

From the post in question:

More than ever, the Kalashnikov rifle is the weapon of choice for many armies, militias, armed gangs, law enforcement officials, rebels, and other private actors who abuse fundamental human rights and operate beyond the international humanitarian law parameters laid down by the Geneva Conventions and other relevant international law.

I'm sure that there are plenty of "civilians" in that mix.
