I'm particularly interested in this, starting just before minute 3 and to the end.

Is this common for him, to use politics (incl. MLK text), religion, and fear to sell products? ie. If God isn't put at the centre of the US, it will become awash in blood. And if you believe in God, consider buying gold from Goldline?

It's not surprising that you haven't seen it. After all, you share their faith...why would they bother proselytizing to you?

I see a lot of intolerance too, but mostly from those pointing at others and calling them intolerant.............

I am pointing out the fact that Evangelicals only have one way and are intolerant of any other. As I said before, I didn't make the rules, I'm just pointing them out. If you have some kind of a problem with them, that's not my fault.

I am completely tolerant of what they want to think and believe, are they of others?

Perhaps, people have not experienced what you and I have experienced regarding evangelicals.

Throughout my life..(I was educated in a Christian School) I have been involved in community outreach and have been in many situations where the Christian faith was being shared with a non-believer. I have never seen it presented in the way some have described. It's ashamed because the delivery of the message is as important as the message in my opinion.

Yes, I realize that...otherwise there'd be 76% of the population (including most of my friends and family) that I couldn't stand to be around. :-)

I'm sitting in a motel room completely procrastinating getting my work done, but I really need to get to it so I can try and get some sleep tonight.

Yes, I get it. Playing devil's advocate though, I can see being horrified at the idea that someone I love or care about could wind up going to hell. In that case I can see being more direct, but I don't know if it would ever change anyone's opinion.

I had someone say it about me to my daughter. Stuck their head down to the stroller, talking in a sing-songy voice:

oh, you are such a precious little thing. Your mommy is going to Hell, yes she is.

This woman lives in our building and she is a bit - intense. I'm a Methodist, but I don't go to her church.

So, yes, there are Christians who believe that only members of their own congregation going to heaven. There's no convincing them that a God that created the heaven and the earth and all who dwell in their midst, and sent/sacrificed his Son to show us a better way, might have a capacity for love that expands beyond 10 rows of wooden pews.

There are always extremists. I don't think they are the norm. But extremists anywhere hurt everyone else. It's like we are all ambassadors for our POV, our gender, our city, our race and religion, and every personal encounter is an opportunity to make a good impression... or make someone feel so crappy that they forget every positive encounter with .

Hopefully everyone here who has had a personal encounter with a "mean" Christian will soon be inundated with love and cheer and kindness from the Christian community in such a profound way, it will at least help heal some of that bad mojo. As a matter of fact, that's going into my prayers tonight.
