Hagee is an anti-Catholic bigot, no doubt. But...the Catholic League isn't exactly tolerant itself. They do not represent the Catholic Church overall, and are quite controversial within Church communities.

Mormon scripture is even more harsh re: Catholicism than was Hagee.

For ex. it is "the great and abominable church, which is the whore of all the earth, shall be cast down by devouring fire..." (Doctrine and Covenants, 29:21)

And, for ex., it is the "mother of abominations, that made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, that persecuteth the saints of God... she is ready to be burned" (Doctrine and Covenants, 88:94)

I don't know if Beck, who is Mormon, believes in his church's scriptures, but I'm not sure he could denounce Hagee's comments without ending up being asked about that, and his bishop would expect him to be in harmony with LDS teachings.

True... and I think Hagee apologized? I'm not sure.

At any rate I'm guessing that Beck will avoid the entire topic (please see my post above).

For those who don't know, the D&C is open scriptural canon, ie. a continuing Word of God.

Gotta run. bbl xo

Well, let's see...did Beck sit in as a member Hagee's church for 20 YEARS????

No.

Did Hagee marry the Becks?

No.

Does Beck count Hagee as one of his earthly family?

No.

I gotta say, then, no Hagee is not Beck's Rev. Wright. Not even close.

But - but - but he "associated"/"associates" with him.

From what I heard, he said he was sorry if what he said offended any Catholics. Not sorry for what he said. Then I read later that he rescinded the apology????

Isn't he the one that said something about Hurricane Katrina hitting New Orleans?
