"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened,'" Barack Obama's running mate recently told the "CBS Evening News."
Except, Republican Herbert Hoover was in office when the stock market crashed in October 1929. There also was no television at the time; TV wasn't introduced to the public until a decade later, at the 1939 World's Fair."Part of what being a leader does is to instill confidence, is to demonstrate what he or she knows what they are talking about and to communicating to people ... this is how we can fix this," Biden said.
Should Gov. Palin had made these errors, the media would have been all over it.
Uh...Biden does know HISTORY. Grabbing for straws are we? lol.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the first president to be televised, and was also the first president to have a TV receiver in his home. http://www.earlytelevision.org/fdr.html
FDR was elected President of the United States an unprecedented four times. He occupied the White House from March 4, 1933 to April 12, 1945 - 12 tumultuous years in American history.
FDR first navigated the country through the muddy waters of the Great Depression, struggling to clean up the United States economy at home. Next, he steered the country through the battlefields of World War II, helping to free a shaken Europe from tyranny and, at the same time, fighting a war against the Japanese in the Pacific.
A warm, optimistic man, Franklin was Harvard educated, attended Columbia Law School and, in 1905, married Eleanor Roosevelt who came from the Theodore Roosevelt side of the family. In 1921, at the age of 39, FDR was crippled by polio. Yet he never faltered because of his disability.
Frances Perkins, Secretary of Labor during Roosevelt's entire presidency, wrote that FDR was "...the most complicated human being I ever knew." Playwright Robert Sherwood said FDR posessed a "thickly forested interior" and "he was spiritually the healthiest man I have ever known
And the Depression started in 1929, three years before Rooseveldt was elected, and there were no television stations until 1936.
Please, no reason to drink cool aid... everyone knows Biden makes gaffs all the time.
My favorite:
Anyone who frequents YouTube has probably seen the video of Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Joseph Biden speaking on the campaign trail recently when he mentioned Missouri State Senator Chuck Graham’s name. This prompted Biden to say to Graham “Stand up, Chuck, let ‘em see ya.”
Just a thought; at least he's allowed to have the freedom to make gaffes. I'm beginning to think Palin is mute. I suspect Biden confused his dates, not a hanging offense as it's history from almost 90 years ago.
Oh, and the tv was invented in 1928....before the 1929 crash; Dee
That is pretty silly. I think that possibly one of the reasons that this hasn't received much media attention is because Biden sort of fades into the woodwork; people want to see what Palin is up to, because her followers really like her and her non-followers really despise her, but few people have strong feelings about Mr. Biden one way or the other. Sometimes he comes across like an uninformed clown on the campaign trail. On the other hand, I've seen him presiding at hearings, and he seems to be able ask questions that get to the heart of whatever is being discussed. Usually the vice presidential candidate is not the major draw. In the McCain-Palin campaign, Palin clearly has more star power than the other VP candidate, and is thus possibly subject to more scrutiny. There is also the small detail that Palin is not limiting herself to a handful of gaffes, but in recent interviews has come across as profoundly stupid.

One problem: Graham is in a wheelchair.
Then, of course, there is the clip of him the other day telling a woman that they will oppose all coal plants if they are elected.
psst, Joe, your running mate has supported clean coal plants.
Just a thought; at least he's allowed to have the freedom to make gaffes. I'm beginning to think Palin is mute.

Actually, mechanical tv was invented a couple years earlier... but there were no TV stations before the late 30s.
But Biden's always good for a gaffe...

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure
