Can someone please tell me why the Libs are always screaming about "fairness" for everything, but then turn around and expect unfair taxes on the rich?

I asked "what income are the wealthy currently not taxed on?"

Your reply:

>>My statement was about flat taxes and had nothing to do with the current progressive system. If we are talking about a flat tax that is "fair" all income (since over 58% of their wealth is held in equity and financial securities , following with trust funds and stocks and mutual funds) would be included. The rest of the population holds most of their wealth in home equity and retirement funds which is a very small chunk compared to how much we earn our income in wages throughout most of our lives.<<

You spoke of applying a flat tax to "all income" and then you go on to describe a wealthy person's holdings: stocks, trust funds, financial securities implying that it's unfair that those things are not currently taxed and that your flat tax idea should include them.

Those items aren't "income". They are owned assets. They are already taxed when they are sold so how your flat tax system any different as that's already the system we have. So for you to suggest they be included as "income to be taxed" is to create an annual estate tax.

I'm not the only one who took what you stated that way. The comment is completely irrelevant otherwise.

Yeah, if people were looking for a true "fair" flat tax.

No. Because as someone else noted, you're confusing "wealth" with "income". We already tax all income.

So what income is it that the wealthy have that is currently not taxed? You never did answer that question.

mom, it's a question of bias.

The mere fact that they are NGOs "promoting social justice between the South and the North" shows that they have an agenda, and anything they say must be measured against that agenda.

I am not confusing the two just stated that if you want to tax "fairly" you need to include both when using a flat tax formula.
