Can someone please tell me why the Libs are always screaming about "fairness" for everything, but then turn around and expect unfair taxes on the rich?

He's already promised that it is deficit spending that will fund these projects.

That shows that you aren't among the super-rich, unfortunately.

It is very common among the wealthy that their assets remain segregated (generally according the a prenuptual agreement) and they, as in both the case of Sen. McCain and Sen. Kerry, file separate tax returns from their spouses.

Like you, I'm not in that super-rich catagory... When we got married, we didn't even bother keeping out debt separate...

There are two issues here.

First, the progressive income tax, one of the cornerstones of the Communist Manifesto (go look it up if you don't believe me), is redistributionist, because it takes not just more money, but a higher percentage of money from those who earn more.

>>This argument makes no sense because even with a flat tax the higher incomes will always pay more. They actually make out better because if we put a TRUE fair tax in place and taxed ALL income, they would be paying out a heck of a lot more. They fare better under a progressive tax, as does everyone else.<<

Couple of things:

1. Exactly what income earned by those who have "higher income" is currently is not taxed?
(I realize there is a lot of income earned in the lower brackets that is not taxed)

2. This sounds like you support a flat tax, correct?

How do you figure that?

mom, the issue I raise is why tax higher incomes at a higher rate?

If you apply a flat tax rate, everyone pays, for example, $0.15 on every dollar of income.
