Guilty on one count of making a false statement to federal authorities. Jury "hung" on the remaining 23 charges. Sounds almost like a "win" for Blago. Now, will there be a retrial on those other charges, or is this the end of the road?

CNN is reporting that the federal prosecutor will ask for a re-trial on some of the other charges.

Complete waste of time and money. The only thing he's guilty of is being a loud mouth.

Yes, since Blago was under surveillance anyway, I wonder why they didn't just let him actually go further and commit the crime. It is not like significant harm to the public would occur considering there was somebody watching who could step in as soon as anything even remotely dangerous would happen.

Speculation is that it may have meant another high profile political figure getting arressted, and some trial watchers have speculated that it may have created a domino effect and several high profile politicians could have been involved. We will never know for sure.

That should be fodder for the conspiracy folks for years to come - at least someone will be happy.
