I just saw this from CNN on Twitter:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation will restore funding to Planned Parenthood. Find out the details now on #CNN.

Here's the article~

"The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has reversed its decision of three days ago to stop funding Planned Parenthood for breast cancer screenings, the group said Friday in a statement.

"We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives," the group said.

"We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities," the group

Sounds like the Huffington Post has a different take on this. I'm not sure I fully understand yet, but I'm sure more light will be shed on it as the day goes on...

"To be clear, Komen's apology is not a promise to renew Planned Parenthood grants. It's a promise to "continue to fund existing grants" to the organization -- which it was already planning on doing -- and to make it eligible for future grants. At no point in the press release does Brinker promise that Komen will renew grants to Planned Parenthood."

Lots of men, too. Everyone (men and women) on another board I'm on was outraged about Komen. Lots of conservatives on that board, too. It was quite refreshing to see conservatives and liberals coming together in support of Planned Parenthood which has done so much for women.

Just saw this Tweet from a Sr. Writer at Newsweek:

"On a conference call with Planned Parenthood's Cecile Richards. They've raised over $3 million since this whole Komen debacle began."

I can just picture her reaction. She was at the launch of Women Are Watching (with Senator Shaheen), where I worked the registration desk. She is such an effervescent, positive personality, and a good choice to lead PP.

You can bet KftC was watching numbers the last few days while their ears reverberated from the scoldings rolling their way.

Years ago I wondered why an organization which purported to want a cure for breast cancer, which kills thousands of women (my own mother, at the age of 50, included), featured the name of one woman. Got the impression that Komen was a bit arrogant.

The crack-up of it is... Komen didn't even start the Pink Ribbon Campaign.

Interesting. I didn't know that.

For me, the trimmings and hype of an organization or entity, whatever form they may take, don't matter nearly as much as the follow-through on their stated mission or principles. Guess that's part of the reason all the hoopla over the wearing of flag pins, or pledging of allegiances just does not resonate as being important.

Komen didn't appeal to me then; and it doesn't have my respect or support now.
