Can someone explain to me how a State can vote for a man who stands for change and then turn around and deny a group of AMERICANS a basic right just because of who they happen to be? I thought people from California were a little more modern than they showed themselves to be Tuesday. Perhaps they would like to re -write the Bill of Rights. No more can people from the South or other rural areas of the US be labeled "Red Necks" that is now firmly secured in the State of California where they deny the right of someone to chose who they marry by only their gender. Don't bring up Religion. This is not the Middle East. We have separation of Church and State for a reason. The is absolutely no valid reason to deny this group the right to marry. Please tell me why you would deny two people who love each other that right? I would "love" to hear the reasons! They should take down the HOLLYWOOD sign and replace it with RED NECK WORLD

BY the way. I'm a happily married heterosexual male who has no problem with homosexuals/lesbians being married. It's THEIR business and no one else should be involved!

Don't blame the "rednecks" - they didn't vote for Obama, precisely because people like you who supported Obama called them "rednecks".

I don't think anyone is arguing that marriage doesn't have a meaning. But I think that many of us believe that the meaning of marriage is culturally dependent and can't really be distilled down to a one-sentence description.

When someone insults you, you're less likely to vote for them, no?
