Clear things up on Halliburton???

What other companies could have taken these contracts in Iraq? Are these companies speaking out? I have had a hard time finding information regarding this.
I have heard that Schlumberger is the only really capable company but still does not have the same experience that Halliburton does and the fact that it is French owned might rule them out for the views on the war in Iraq? (this is second hand info. not sure of a specific source)
I feel like I need to be posting on a politics for dummies board. lol
