I live in a military town in Kansas so the Obama signs around here are not safe. My SIL has had her Obama sign stolen twice and hasn't been able to get another one from the Democratic HQ because they all keep getting stolen. I have an Obama magnet on my car and I'm surprised it's still there. I imagine a lot of people think it's just a sticker, which is why it hasn't been touched.
My parents, on the other hand, live in a larger city, although still in Kansas, and their Obama sign is fine. In fact, no signs in their neighborhood have been messed with, regardless of whether they are McCain or Obama signs. I really just think it depends on where you live, unfortunately.

"I have only just this weekend put an Obama sticker in my car window and would you believe it was ripped off of my car in the courthouse parking lot???? I thought that was incredible, but the bailiff just smiled and said it's been happening a lot in that town."

I agree.

I think therefore I am...a democrat.
I see immaturity on both sides of the fence, unfortunately. This election can't be over fast enough for me.
I posted this story on another board, but it seems appropriate for me to post it here as well. I live in a very liberal community. During the last presidential election (Bush/Kerry), one of the farmers in our community erected a huge sign in his field supporting Bush. (I think he felt so outnumbered, he had to make up for it in size, LOL). Anyway, some immature person painted a swastika on his sign. Now I'm no Bush supporter (I voted for Kerry then and I've already voted for Obama in this election), but that vandalism angered me. If he hadn't replaced his sign almost immediately, I would have done it for him. There's absolutely no call for that.
This year, I'm proud to say that my next door neighbor has had the same Obama (Yes we can!) sign in his yard since February. And that same farmer's extra large McCain sign has not been vandalized or removed once. Either the vandals moved away or they got the message.
