I was pleasantly surprised to read this since Ms. Paglia is a pro-choice feminist and left-leaning columnist.

>As for the Democrats who sneered and howled that Palin was unprepared to be a vice-presidential nominee -- what navel-gazing hypocrisy! What protests were raised in the party or mainstream media when John Edwards, with vastly less political experience than Palin, got John Kerry's nod for veep four years ago?<

Yeah, the double standard in the media is so blatant nowadays.

I doubt Governor Palin would appreciate other *women* writing articles apologizing for and excusing her much-discussed lack of intelligence and abilities.

Sorry, but I find this article to be ludicrous.

But no, reporters have been too busy playing mini-badminton with every random spitball about Sarah Palin, who has been subjected to an atrocious and at times delusional level of defamation merely because she has the temerity to hold pro-life views.

She was not being "subjected to an atrocious...level of defamation" for holding pro-life views. That is absolutely absurd. I would never vote for a woman who would seek to take away choice, but she certainly wasn't defamed for holding that view. When it came to Sarah Palin, her lack of intelligence and her ill-preparedness was what sunk her.

And Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, for whom I lobbied to be Obama's pick and who was on everyone's short list for months, has a record indistinguishable from Palin's.

As a Kansas Democrat, I love Gov. Sebelius! But to say that her record is "indistinguishable" from Palin's,

While I don't think the race to blame Palin for all of the McCain shortfalls is fair to her. I as an educated woman in the professional workforce, I was extremely put-off by McCain's choice. There were many qualified female candidates to choose from withing the GOP - his choice just showed how out of touch he and the GOP are with women who are in the professional workforce fighting every day for equality.

My DH loves her. One of the things he likes the most is, "she's well grounded and genuine". I think she's pretty darned impressive as well.

It's funny the different opinions out there. Our family gained even more respect for Senator McCain when he picked Sara Palin. It showed he was his own man.

How tacky that she speaks in a vivacious regional accent indistinguishable from that of Western Canada!

Okay, I take serious issue with this remark!
