Amid an uproar over a proposal by President Bush to lift bans on offshore drilling, Democrats in Congress held a press conference to voice opposition to such a plan. During the conference, congressman Maurice Hinchey of New York suggested that the US' private oil refineries should be nationalized, and Massachusetts' Ed Markey accused the Bush administration of being a mouthpiece for the oil industry.

it was a press conference only one person can speak(at a time), but when a congressional press conference is called it is inferred that the party is behind it.

Why do people feel the Bush admin is a mouthpiece for oil?

I don't get that.

why didn't other news organizations show this though?

And your 2nd item (Chris Baker radio web site) prominently lists the Fox News story as the basis for the item for discussion.

Why would I watch it? Minchly is not my congressman, so I don't care what he says. If this becomes an issue in the Democratic party platform, I will care, but it's not and I don't.

How many congressional press conferences do you watch?
