Democrats have screwed up priorities

i dont get it.
I was reading today about Obama's short term agenda and three things that came up were
1) stop plans to drill for oil in environmentally fragile areas
2) stop the ban on funding of abortion aid in other countries
3) stop ban on stem cell creation and subsequent destroying for research purposes.
WHAT??????
why is the environment and/or animals more important that unborn babies?
many times the liberal agenda is more for the rights of everything EXCEPT unborn kid, eg: baby animals, people on death row, gay rights, etc.
I am not against the rights of those i just listed, i would just include unborn children too, right?? it seems like strange priorities, or hypocritical.

That would be a resounding YES!
Um - OF COURSE!!! Saving an entire species vs. preventing women from having rights over their own bodies. It's a no brainer to me, but I believe that I am the only person who should have the right to use my body. Again, this is a topic that would be better discussed on the abortion debate board because my reasons for believing this are so numerous and lengthy that they would hijack this thread :-). Even though my religion and/or sense of morality would probably prevent ME from having an abortion (I can't say for sure - I've never been in that position and I am not one to judge) I think it is reprehensible to remove that legal right from women, thereby saying that women must share the right to control over their bodies with a z/e/f, potentially harming their health or ending their lives.
However, I think saving an endangered species by preventing drilling is perfectly ok - also the issues are SO different it's a little like comparing oranges to dump trucks, but that's neither here nor there. Oil should be expensive and we should use less of it. It will not last forever and the sooner we wean ourselves off of it the better. Endangered species are endangered mostly because of human activities and I think it is our responsibility to prevent those species from becoming extinct.

so you think it is more important to save the life of an endangered species than to save the life of a human embryo? WHAT???
I'm a Democrat and I don't think animals are more important than unborn babies.
As for the environment, if there hadn't been enough forward thinking people decades ago (think The Silent Spring, EPA), the wombs those babies are in would toxic places.
Of course adults who are gay have more rights than an unborn child - duh!
Your post borders on disrespectful, don't you think? People who have values different than yours are not "screwed up", they're different and frankly equally worthy. Maybe if you took the time to understand other's opinions, they wouldn't seem "screwed up".

I'm not a Democrat, but I agree with your post.
ITA.
And I love the Muhammed Ali quote in your siggy. I think it's particularly appropriate right now.
