Democrats have screwed up priorities

i dont get it.

I was reading today about Obama's short term agenda and three things that came up were

1) stop plans to drill for oil in environmentally fragile areas
2) stop the ban on funding of abortion aid in other countries
3) stop ban on stem cell creation and subsequent destroying for research purposes.

WHAT??????

why is the environment and/or animals more important that unborn babies?

many times the liberal agenda is more for the rights of everything EXCEPT unborn kid, eg: baby animals, people on death row, gay rights, etc.

I am not against the rights of those i just listed, i would just include unborn children too, right?? it seems like strange priorities, or hypocritical.

"I frequent many boards on iVillage and I can honestly say that I have never seen a CL anywhere else post such shocking and offensive generalizations. Granted, I've only been on this board for a few weeks, but posts like these don't reflect well at all, IMHO."

I'm mostly a lurker here, but I just have to say I've never seen a CL post such ignorant nonsense. I'm sitting here holding my beautiful, sleeping 3-month-old baby boy, whom I joyously delivered after trying for many many years to conceive and after 15 years of marriage, and I'm reading that I supposedly "want to kill babies" because I'm politically pro-choice. Insane.

Do I accuse Republicans of wanting to kill children in other countries because they approved of the war in Iraq? It's obviously more complex than that, just as abortion is more complex to anyone who uses his or her brain.

For all pro-choicers, I object to federal funds used for abortion either in the US or abroad (since it is a choice)

Those are my taxpayer dollars at work, and federal use of taypayer dollars for abortion is unconstitutional

More folks need to read the constitution.

>>I find it ironic that the same people who want us to feel so sorry for the lower class, the drug dealers, etc. are the same people who feel that it abortion is a good thing no matter what the reason. Let's see....we are supposed to save the garbage of the streets like a drug dealer....but a poor baby who did nothing else but be concieved we are ok with it being killed because mom just doesn't want it. How hypocritical!!! <<

I don't agree with you, but then I don't really see what the uproar is either.

I've been surprised and occasionally offended by occassional posts of many different CLs on iV and off. I've finally concluded that CL's are people, too. I'm willing to a controversial post slide because I'm glad they do the job they do.

Thanks.

Do you also object to your tax dollars going to pay for medical needs, food and education for children, both abroad and in the US? Having children is, after all, a choice.

ETA: There are lots of things I don't want my tax dollars going to. I hate the war in Iraq and I don't want my tax dollars going to it.

"The new president is also expected to lift a so-called global gag rule barring international family planning groups that receive U.S. aid from counseling women about the availability of abortion, even in countries where the procedure is legal, said Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. When Bill Clinton took office in 1993, he rescinded the Reagan-era regulation, known as the Mexico City policy, but Bush reimposed it. "

This is not use of federal funds for abortions.

The global gag rule did not prevent US aid from being used for abortions, something that was already illegal.
