Ok, now if that had been your initial response, I would have completely agreed with you. This is not a "one party is to blame" type of deal. But your original response included this quote:

"This is NOT a problem caused by Democrats - Dems have had their hands tied while Republicans have created a deregulated, free-wheeling environment for big business. "

Which is what I took exception to. And I completely agree with your statement about people who irresponsibly taking on mortgages that they couldn't afford having a hand in our current mess as well. We can blame the legislature for their failures, we can blame the corporations for their greed, but we need to also blame the citizens who failed to make responsible, intelligent decisions with their finances and have left the large majority of responsible citizens paying the cost of their bad decisions.

No, you stated your beliefs.

You made accusations, but you did not give a single fact to substantiate any of your accusations.

It's one of those old "If I tell you, I'll have to kill you" things.

A direct quote from John McCain...

" record … suggest that he has never departed in any major way from his party’s embrace of deregulation... e has consistently characterized himself as fundamentally a deregulator he has no history prior to the presidential campaign of advocating steps to tighten standards on investment firms.

McCain has always been in his party’s mainstream on the issue. In early 1995 … McCain promoted a moratorium on federal regulations of all kinds. 'I’m always for less regulation,' he told The Wall Street Journal last March…. 'I am fundamentally a deregulator.' "
