Did Obama make a mistake?

As a Hillary supporter, who has now slanted towards McCain/Palin, I am curious as to how many people (democrats especially) think that Obama should have chosen Hillary as his running mate. I know he would have had my vote. Why or why not??? I know this is pretty much a debate board, but I really don't want a debate, I'm truly curious as to what his supporters think, now that there is a woman on the ticket.

I don't know how much of it was a mistake as much as it was McCain's choice was so surprising to everyone that it generated a lot of excitement - both positive and negative.

obama had my vote since he accepted the nomination. sometimes i think he should have chosen hillary because it would have secured more votes. but i'm sure he would have lost some votes with that choice as well. he could have been seen as "giving in" to the media, or the clintons, or flip-flopping his views of HRC, or whatever

the more i think about it the happier i am with the fact that he chose biden. he went with the right choice, instead of the popular choice, and i appreciate that.

why are you now leaning towards mccain/palin when they are the complete opposite of HRC? whereas obama and hillary are so similar in regards to policy?

i am of two minds - as i have been from the start. i was leery of Clinton being the candidate because i did not think i could stand the bloodbath the conservatives would put her through - a bad basis for selecting a candidate but a practical one. but on the other hand, i had a difficult time supporting Obama because i feel Clinton has the experience. i voted for her in the primary. however, my feeling that strong party is important and that the issues are important to advance my "view of the world" leads me to back Obama not that Clinton is out.

Yes i thought he should have selected her as running mate and i would have been electrified by that ticket, but i understand why he did not from a marketing standpoint. it makes me sad that we can only tackle one stereotype at a time but ...

There was a time i would have considered McCain. and there was a time i would have been excited that he chose a female running mate. but she stands for all the wrong issues from my POV - and she was selected to appeal to the extreme right wing of the party more than she was selected to appeal to women's concerns. i can't support him with her on the ticket.

Palin is the anti-Clinton.

I'm still undecided for the most part, I need to hear the debates and see both of these canidates answer live and without written scripts or teleprompters guiding their every word, but I'm leaning towards McCain/Palin for 2 reasons, National Security and offshore drilling.

I asked you the same question (as the2step did) about Hillary/Palin in a different thread but I didn't get a reply. Even after explaining it I'm still not quite sure of your reasoning. As a Hillary supporter, what exactly about Palin swayed you from a democrat vote?

I honestly don't think she would have accepted the VP position if offered(heck it may have been offered).

That is a very good point and I never thought about that.

What about a Dem/Rep ticket?

I don't feel that Sen. Obama made a mistake. Senator Clinton is far too valuable to put into a position with as little political power as the vice-presidency. Jack Garner, vice president during the first two terms of FDR's term of office, said the vice-presidency wasn't worth a warm bucket of spit. I feel that Senator Biden both has the temperament for what, in ordinary circumstances, is largely a ceremonial position and is also well qualified to step in should the unthinkable happen. I believe that Sen. Clinton would make an excellent cabinet secretary. I would love to see her finally in charge of health issues.
