Did Obama make a mistake?

As a Hillary supporter, who has now slanted towards McCain/Palin, I am curious as to how many people (democrats especially) think that Obama should have chosen Hillary as his running mate. I know he would have had my vote. Why or why not??? I know this is pretty much a debate board, but I really don't want a debate, I'm truly curious as to what his supporters think, now that there is a woman on the ticket.

I am also curious why you would switch from Clinton to McCain. They are SO different! Obama is certainly not the same as Clinton (I was also a Clinton supporter) but their views MUCH more closely align than do Clinton and McCain's. The choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate just adds more contrast. Palin and Clinton couldn't BE any more different! What could have made *me* switch to McCain would be if he made a truly brave and moderate pick, someone like Liberman (who I've heard he wanted to pick but the GOP wouldn't let him - of course I'm not very "plugged in" so who knows how accurate that is). Anyway, that would have shown me that he's really a "maverick" who wants change and more bipartisan efforts in the gov't. His choice of Palin, IMO, was just a strategic move to energize the fundamentalist christians (no better or worse to me than fundamentalist muslims, btw - *fundamentalists* of any religion scare the crap out of me - these people can't be reasoned with!) out there and to perhaps get some Hillary voters who just wanted a woman and didn't care about the issues.

Anyway - back to my original question - why will you be voting for a person who basically stands for the opposite of the person you originally supported? That would be like a Huckabee supporter suddenly going for Obama. It does not make sense to me.

As for the VP choice - that was Obama's decision to make and I feel like he make a solid and intelligent decision, unlike McCain who I thought made a very impulsive and pandering decision. Just my 2 cents.

Were you supporting Hillary because she's a WOMAN, or because of the issues??

As for national security - how does McCain fit better?

I think he made the smartest choice for himself

I agree, I think she'd be more useful in a plum Cabinet position, so that's what I'm hoping for.

I don't feel like Obama made a mistake. I trust that he knows what he's doing. Would I have preferred he had chosen Hillary, yes. I am a Hillary supporter first and foremost. I am now an Obama supporter.

And, just because John McCain now has a vagina on his ticket, and that is all I see in his choice, he has not changed his stance on the issues that are important to me. He's actually made it worse by choosing someone who is even further right than he. He chose a woman to try and sway Hillary supported to the conservative camp.

Until the end of time I will not understand how someone who was backing Hillary Clinton could even remotely believe that changing their allegiance to Senator McCain/Gov. Palin is justified. That would be like saying one day that I am allergic to peanuts then the next day going out and eating a bag of them to see what they do to me. Hillary Clinton is a liberal Democrat. She supports a woman's right to make her own choices re. her reproductive rights. Hillary supports stem cell research to help find cures to diseases. She supports a national health care plan that will ensure that all Americans have health insurance coverage. That means not just the poor and not just the middle class employed or the upper class and wealthy. Everyone will be able to access it. Palin believes that healthcare should be made affordable through increased competition between providers. Hillary supports equal rights for people of all races, genders, sexual orientations. Palin won't even consider gay marriage, let alone healthcare coverage for gay spouses.

To say one supports McCain/Palin because he chose a woman when one was a Hillary supporter just doesn't make any sense to me. They are nothing alike. If one supported Hillary, what makes sense is to put your support behind Obama. I don't believe that Sarah Palin offers anything as a female except extremism. There is no feminism, no involvement with feminist groups, and certainly no support from them.

This is definitely one anomaly in this world that I will never understand. That's my $.02.

Her behaviour seems to suggest otherwise.

However, the truth of the matter is that Hillary doesn't want Obama to win.
