On this subject, I wish there were Federal standards for voting guidelines. It seems to me that when each state has it's own set of rules for voting it causes confusion. Do you think it would be less confusing and more fair if there was one set of regulations for voter identification?

Yeah I do actually, I think photo id should be shown and you should only be able to vote absentee if you really aren't gonna be in town that day ....... I don't like this mail in ballot stuff either.

But those are just my opinions ;-)

Not everyone legally eligible to vote HAS a photo ID. For most people their photo ID is their drivers license, but not everyone has a drivers license.

In my state (not sure of others) if you do not have a DL - you must have a state issued ID card that looks identical to a DL but is stamped ID ONLY.

In my state, you do not have to have any ID card. I am not aware of any of the state around me that insists that its residents have a state issued ID card. I live in Massachusetts. This is only workable if everyone HAS an ID card.

This is old (2002) but it shows which states require or can request ID at the polls

Like Oregon, where they have ALL mail in/absentee type ballots----there are no polls to go to!

I vote early EVERY election (like before 8)beecause I am afraid that someone is going to try to pretend to be me and I am not going to get to vote. That terrifies me!
