A large part of the recent rise in the cost of gas doesn't have anything to do with supply or demand. It has to do with the falling value of the dollar relative to the other major world currencies. Oil is traded in dollars. If oil was traded in Euros it would be more obvious. It is the cost of our huge ongoing trade deficits and plain old inflation.
