Yeah...the "live in fear" thingie really got to me. What's with that? Are people threatening her? If so, she'd be wise to contact the authorities. And, while I can't say that I've heard many of her programs, the ones that I did hear showed a Dr. Laura giving advice to people complaining to basically suck it up and look into themselves for why their life is so bad and make corrections from there. Well...Dr. Laura needs to take her own advice. She is just as whiny and needy as the callers she chastises. If her advice is or was any good for them, then it should be good for her.

Yes, I think you've summed it up.

Then... her apology isn't real?

Apparently people who hate the use of the "N word" are a hate group. You know, like those "hate groups" that hate hate groups, or those intolerant hypocrites who refuse to tolerate intolerance.

Yep.

The few times I've heard her, it was a "Say what?" moment.

Also and probably more important to her station, several b-i-g sponsors have taken their dollars away from the show not only from this latest dust up but from other hateful things she has pronounced on her show.

Have not heard the 5 min audio...don't really care to. I assume that what is said is accurate since she apologized for it....its time for her to go.

I never was a big fan. We would occasionally hear her when we were on a roadtrip and were looking for something to listen to and she was all we could find. I will say, that I agreed with her take on most calls...as you all have portrayed it....hush up with the whining and take responsibility for your situation and do something positive....those were usually the types of things she would espouse...and I agreed.

Now, it seems like she could take her own advice. Stop whining. Throw yourself on the mercy of your employer, your listeners, your sponsors and let them decide...or, back out, resign and say once again on the way out, "I am sorry. I was wrong. I thank you all for allowing me to do this for 30 yrs."

Just my thoughts.

My problem with the way this is being portrayed by a lot of people is that it was not just about her using the "n" word. The things she said beyond that were far worse than the fact that she used the word. But, because that's all some of the media reports are focusing on, people can defend her by claiming this is some kind of double standard or "political correctness gone awry". I was much more disturbed by her dismissing the woman's issue, by her silliness regarding why white people should be able to use the word, and, especially, by her suggestion that the woman shouldn't marry outside her race if she was so sensitive. The fact that Dr. Laura used a word she "shouldn't have" was nowhere near my biggest issue with her rant. I hope the rest of it doesn't get lost in an effort to make her some kind of anti-PC hero.

If the whole clip is listened to.. You'll hear her say she didn't help that woman properly. She goes on to say in that clip on Larry King that people don't want to debate anymore, what they want to do is get rid of you, take your job. They boycott your advertisers and send hate filled emails. She said they were within their right to do that, but what gets her is how they go after her, demand her job and are so hateful. Seems pretty indicative of the world today, even online. People shouting 'tolerance' really don't have it themselves. She apologized, admitted she was wrong.. time to move on but that's not good enough anymore.

Hmm.. I think she has valid points. I never really learned anything from her show, seems like pretty common sense answers to me.
