The country as a whole does eat too much fast food. However, not all of us eat it everyday and I know I sure wouldn't want to be penalized once every couple months when I want some Burger King!

I'm not much for increased taxes....

But...

I completely favor "sin tax" type propositions. Cigarrettes. Alcohol. No one "needs" that stuff..and no one "needs" fast food either. I have no problem with an extra percent being tacked on to fast food taxes.

In MA, fast food is already subjected to the 5% meals tax that is levied on all restaurant meals.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure

The problem I have with fast food tax, is the definition of fast food.

Fast food is taxed here too. I think drive thru or delivery food could be taxed at a higher rate.

I'm just sayin' I don't think it's a horrible idea. Then again, I think we should legalize pot and prostitution and tax the hell out of it...so I'm kooky like that!

I had the same thought. When DH and I go to McD's, he gets the greasy burgers and I get the Southwest salad. I think taxing fast food is a bit too much.

Why would it be considered a sin tax?
