Why isn't Obama using these against McCain?

I think that Sen Obama's campaign has not used this affiliation because they are trying to step away from the negative downward spiral that Sen McCain's campaign has taken.

It's amazing how, with recent elections, each has a different tone - either mud-slinging or taking the high road.

When Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were exposed, the evangelical Christians had so much influence.

Maybe because McCain has already been effectively "tried" for the Keating 5, received his reprimand and put it in the past - McCain-Feingold is, in effect, penance for the Keating 5.

As far as Liddy goes, unlike Ayers, Liddy did his time.

In fact, I bet most people here didn't even know McCain and G. Gordon Liddy have been friends for many years.

I think whether Obama wins or loses, taking the high road on such things is a great thing to do. He is able to stay more focused on what matters to the public -whether we agree with it or not. McCain and Palin have taken the very low road on

David Letterman actually brought up G. Gordon Liddy when McCain appeared on his show last night.

There is a huge difference between the two cases. Obama is not being open and honest about his associations. Again, the ONLY reason Ayers was not convicted was because of a technicality, he has ADMITTED that he participated in domestic terrorism and bombed the Pentagon. You can spin it all you want, it is a FACT that Obama's political career WAS launched in Ayer's living room, and to this day Obama has not admitted that it was a mistake (unlike McCain who calls the Keating 5 scandal "the biggest mistake of my life").

The part about the political "coming out" is at around the 5:10 second mark.
