Why isn't Obama using these against McCain?

I am assuming they are referring to this:

"There are other connections between Obama and Ayers: The same year the two men met through the Annenberg Challenge,

Because Obama knows that it doesn't matter to the swing voters.

Could it be argued that if Keating hadn't met McCain, then KEATING wouldn't have gone to prison?

I was wondering the same especially with the "terrorist" thing when I know McCain had much closer ties with people and groups known to have committed heinous acts and multiple murders. His love affair with the Contras being one well knwon example. The Catholic Institute for International Relations summarized contra operating procedures in their 1987 human rights report: "The record of the contras in the field, as opposed to their official professions of democratic faith, is one of consistent and bloody abuse of human rights, of murder, torture, mutilation, rape, arson, destruction and kidnapping." Sounds like a lovely group deserving of McCains support.

After reading excerpts from articles like these (below) I continued to feel Obama needed to hit back hard, that slime must be met with slime.

"But McCain has much closer, more direct, and more recent connections to terrorists who committed acts far worse than Ayers, yet McCain's links to "unrepentant terrorists" are completely ignored by the media. While Obama has forcefully condemned the past actions of Ayers, John McCain has never denounced his terrorist friends.

McCain's "terrorist" connections are far worse than Obama's links to Ayers. In the 1980s, McCain personally funded a guerrilla group (the Contras) that engaged in terrorist acts. Just last year, McCain expressed how "proud" he was of an ex-felon who urged shooting law enforcement agents in the head (G. Gordon Liddy). And earlier this year, the McCain campaign trumpeted the endorsement of a man who illegally provided weapons and money to terrorists; when a reporter questioned this, the McCain campaign refused to even criticize this criminal (Oliver North). "

As Carl Bernstein recently reported:

"McCain was a guest on Liddy's syndicated radio show. Inexplicably, McCain heaped praise on his host's values. During the segment, McCain said he was "proud" of Liddy, and praised Liddy's "adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great." From the program:

LIDDY: Your experience in the Hanoi Hilton is remarkable. I mean, I put in five years in a prison , but it was here in the United States, and they didn't torture - the only torture that I had was being forced to listen to rap music from time to time.

McCAIN: Well, you know, I'm proud of you. I'm proud of your family. I'm proud to know your son, Tom, who's a great and wonderful guy. And it's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon. And congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.

Which of Liddy's "principles and philosophies" was McCain referring to? Liddy's advocacy of break-ins? Firebombings? Assassinations? Kidnappings? Taking target practice with figures nicknamed Bill and Hillary?

During the same period that Bill Ayers was a member of the Weather Underground, Gordon Liddy was making plans to firebomb a Washington think tank, assassinate a prominent journalist, undertake the Watergate burglary, break into the office of Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist, and kidnap anti-war protesters at the 1972 Republican convention."

Given all this, why wouldn't Obama follow McCain into the mud? I was not an early Obama supporter and was pretty lukewarm until Palin emerged. That pretty much woke me up to how unhinged McCain was. I have to say, Obama seems to know what he's doing. I hope he's right-that people don't want to wallow in the Republican muck and care about the issues. we shall see.

**Are those the only connections between Obama and Ayers?**

I can't believe McCain's Robocalls and daily speeches focusing on Ayers are based on just
