If we really cared about military spending, we wouldn't have various branches of the military (Army, Air Force, Navy). We would have merely, "the US Military." It would make eliminating redundancies easier. I'm glad that Gates is looking at this, and glad that we're trying to cut some "fat" organizationally. The real fat, IMHO, is the structure itself.

Read what she wrote...it didn't say "if we really cared about the military." It said "if we really cared about military spending."

Redundancies waste money that could be better spent on our troops.
