I don't understand the attraction people have to her. I think it's a step back to have an unqualified woman on the ticket. Everything she stands for (reform) she can't back up and now she refuses to cooperate with the ethics investigation - what is she hiding? She can't/won't agree to normal debate rules and so has to have a super structured debate in order to survive it!?

Can you quote your sources for all the "facts" you're sharing?

She may have said "Thanks, but no thanks", but it was only after the project was already dad in the water.

The funds that came to Alaska were NOT an earmark for the bridge, they were given to Alaska as general transportation funds. By the time she "took the money" the bridge was already dead (and Congress knew it was dead). So, if you want to take issue with Alaska getting large amounts of federal funds, take it up with Congress, or Ted Stevens, or the stupid idea of "seniority" in the Senate. As far as it's a lie that she's the one who put a stop to it, that is not a lie... Gov. Palin COULD have continued to build the bridge, with a combination of federal and state dollars and decided not to. There is still an effort here to get a bridge built and someday it might be, but at that time, Gov. Palin did decide not to proceed on the bridge. (yes, I will agree that the way she phrases it gives an impression that is not COMPLETELY true, but all politicians do that).

On her record as our governor, yes, she has slashed funding on a lot of things and raised them on others. As a parent of a disabled child, there are NO complaints here, she is raising, not lowering funding for special needs kids. She is not very popular among some of our political establishment (see the investigation into Troopergate). On the other hand, she has bipartisan support in the legislature as well. She has made huge reforms in our government and that is why she is so wildly popular here (with the citizens, the old guard in government, not so much). And in closing, don't make stupid remarks about Alaskans not being informed. As small as we are, the citizens here are extremely involved in our politics and are at least as informed as those of you in the lower 48.

Is that a picture of your home? It's beautiful. My DH and I have been toying with going on an Alaskan cruise, but now since we are unsure about the economy, and he didn't make as much this years as in previous(because of the economy) I don't know if we will be able to or not.
