Hallmark is simply responding to a market need, I don't think it's a big deal. If you don't want to buy a same sex couple a card then don't.

As far as there being gay/lesbian sex in movies, if one of the warnings says sex then you should probably make assumption there could be gay sex too. One could ask why your 13 year old is watching any movie that has sexual activity...

You won't shop at hallmark because they offer wedding cards for same gender weddings? I badly needed such a card this weekend for the wedding of a couple at my church, and could not find one -- and traditional cards are often simply not suited for same gender couples.

The wedding wasn't crap, it was beautiful, the long awaited legal union of a couple who have been together for 11 years. There wasn't a dry eye in the place, including our minister. And when they couple said their vows to their adopted daughter?? Celebrating love and family is what weddings are all about.

Same gender weddings are legal in two states now, perhaps it is time to let your daughter know that though you apparently have issues with this, it is reality.

Are mushrooms now a group, race, or religion, subject to human civil rights? Do you have a different definition of bigotry?

bigotry

noun
Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion: intolerance, prejudice. See like/dislike.

Gays and lesbians exist and are part of society. In Ma and Ca, they now have the right to marry. You don't get to shove them back in the closet, though it appears that would be your preference.

Feel free to believe whatever you like and teach you children the same. But understand that it is bigotry, whether you

"she'll see it on commercials, news, sitcoms etc without warning!"

I'm curious as to what commercial you have seen girls or guys kissing, I never have and I watch a lot of tv. I can't imagine why they would show it on the news too without warning.

As far as sitcoms, you have to be a parent and monitor what kind of show she is watching or wants to watch. My suggestion to you is to watch these shows with her and point out that while this is something that a lot of people do in the world, you don't agree with it. Making sure she doesn't see it isn't going to make it go away. I don't agree with people that smoke cigarettes but I don't cover my son's eyes when there is someone doing it around us, I educate him on what I think about it.

The worst part is kids are being forced to learn how to accept it in schools. How is that fair to us? Why do our children have to learn this in school? Why do they feel they have to push their way into everything? Why is it we are bad if we don't like or accept the gay lifestyle?

Schools should teach sex ed.; our reproductive organs and how a baby is made. Don't think homosexuals fit into that category.

I do believe people have a right to believe what they want. I just don't want it forced down my throat or my kids throats. It has no place in schools or in stores! I don't want my kid looking for cards for her dad and coming across a gay card with two men kissing! This country has become too liberal, and it's making me sick.

BTW, thank you for the info.>

I wonder, do you allow this hatred to bubble over into your thoughts while sitting in your pew at church?

I think the reason they teach about homosexuals in school is because homosexuals are at school. I doubt the teachers go into graphic detail about homosexual sex acts. I made it through sex ed without ever learning how to have sex, and I doubt any amount of instruction will turn a child gay. I think the basis of the lesson is to bring to the child's attention that this exists (and quite probably someone they know) and that it's not OK to discriminate against them. Even if you disagree with homosexuality (as one can disagree with being black, I suppose), you can still benefit from a lesson in diversity.
