That the British version of Vanity Fair is going to do an article that Obama may not like.

LOL - had to laugh at your sarcasm.

In this argument that often get tossed out on political boards, the other side of the coin barely gets looked at. That minority owns 90% of the nation's wealth. Those who own the wealth must contribute back to society not only to help those below them but to help them too. The truth is that the minority get their wealth from the majority.
<>
It is true that the minority will be the least likely to use any of the social programs (like public education or health services), they are the equally rewarded by living in a society that will offer them not only more wealth but more safety, less diseases, more customers, and overall better society.
<>
It was more than likely a right wing think tank since most of their policies and ideologies are based on trickle down economics which isn't working.
<>
A better educated, healthier and safer society will reward much better than one that is falling to pieces.
Well said... took the words right out of my "fingertips"...
I never implied they shouldn't pay more.
But more than what? More than they pay now? Would you have them pick up 100% of the tab because that's where we're heading.
I don't think that's a smart way to run things for the reasons I suggested. It's too easy to vote yourself benefits without considering the consequences or considering the alternative when it's costing you little to nothing.
If everyone has value than it's worth everyone contributing.
And even if the rate were standard across the board which I did not suggest--the rich would still pay more because they earn more. So they are still paying for a much larger piece of the cost. I just don't think they should be taken advantage of simply because the earn more and that's what has happened.
Why is it that when you work hard, provide for your family, become successful and have a good life the answer is to take that (or most of it) away and give it to someone who hasn't got the same things?

Excuse me, but I DO pay taxes - we certainly pay our share.
<>
Waaay back in the day, I was watching Mark Russel (sings funny political songs on PBS)and he said, "George Bush says, 'Read my lips, no new taxes!'
I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure
I didn't say we were there yet but that's the direction we're headed in. As it stands now roughly 42% of income earners pay no federal taxes. The middle class pay a little and the wealthy pay the bulk.
I think whether or not you pay your fair share is subjective. Especially when you don't define what you feel your fair share is. I think most people have trouble defining that and most feel they're paying their fair share or more than their fair share.
I will agree that Senator McCain has changed his tune is some areas. I'm sure you have done the same over the years and he's lived more years than we have. Mr. Obama hasn't been around long enough to judge and is therefore more unknown and a greater risk.
I do agree with you about the business cycle. Either candidate will have to live through some hard times while the economy recovers. I believe that Mr. Obama's wealthy redistribution and spending strategy will make that much longer and damaging. He will fail miserably and not be reelected and that will be bad for the country when the first black president turns out to be such a failure. (When in reality a lot of it will just be the natural cycle of things.)
I think he jumped the gun and should have waited until he had more maturity and experience under his belt and jumped on the bandwagon during a better period in history giving him a better chance of success.
