Also both of my parents worked two and three jobs through college. It was drastically less then. It is all relative.

My dad worked constantly while not in classes or the field doing his research and still didn't make enough to live. We got government assistance during that time.

Let me clue you in on a little something there are those who drop out of school to just help their families out college is no where in sight for them but that aside like you said it is way exspensive and with prices rising as they have for a higher education

I said I am unhappy with ALL of them and see no promised Rose Gardens at this point. All I am hoping for is that we fix the government programs that we have, don't add additional ones if/and or until we can get our debt under control, and protect our nation, and that sure as heck is not Obama.
