Historians See Little Chance for McCain

June 15) - One week into the general election, the polls show a dead heat. But many presidential scholars doubt that John McCain stands much of a chance, if any.

I tend to agree with you that, for the most part, I can see "propaganda" when it comes from both sides. Maybe it's because I tend to be more center than either left or right. Does it happen that I believe what I read when it coincides with my beliefs? Sure. All the time? No way. Not by a long shot. Critical Thinking 101. Probably the best spent class in all of college.

>>McCain IS too liberal...I could be a flaming lib or not political at all and see that. Conservative has nothing to do with it. AND<<

too liberal for what? You've expressed an opinion not a fact, there is no "IS" about it, and certainly ones view about whether or not McCain is "too liberal" depends on whether one is a conservative or a liberal as well as the context of the comment.....

McCain is too liberal to appeal the right wing of the party?

McCain is too liberal to be a Republican?

McCain is too liberal for your tastes?

Very differnt context, very different questions.

>>It's always possible that I'm levelheaded enough to spot BS when others aren't able to see it. I think that ALL the time on here. My BS monitor goes off QUITE frequently.<<

Its possible that your think yourself so levelheaded that you detect BS others don't. That you detect all BS and have no confirmation bias of your own however is not.

Well so far as I can tell...I stayed on topic by answering the question posed by the op. So, I'm not sure what you're getting at.

>>>Very differnt context, very different questions.<<<

Yet regardless of the questions...still the same answer from me...YES.

>>>That you detect all BS and have no confirmation bias of your own however is not.<<<

And that would be your opinion, correct? You don't know me. You don't know how I read an article and you are certainly not in my head or heart...therefore, you could not possibly know whether or not I have confirmation bias. Personally, I think you just like to use that phrase --lol.

>>Yet regardless of the questions...still the same answer from me...YES.<<

Thank you for confiming exactly what I said....the answers to the questions certainly depend on context and whether or not one is a conservative or liberal, I'd answer them yes, no and no.

And only the last one is actually within your ability to answer definatively. So, again, no "IS".

And no, that you have confirmation bias isn't my opinion. That everyone has confirmation bias is something established by science and confimed (;-)) every time it is tested. That you don't think you do is, simply, typical. Very folks are aware of their own biases, none are without them.
