I'm with you - the proposal came from the White House, then the House had (not sure on the time on this) a day or so to add what they wanted.
I feel like there is this call for transparency, but then I really don't know the specifics of either plan.
I also was trying to find out more specifics about the bill(s) and didn't have any luck in my quick search...does anyone know where to find more info?
I, too, worry that the dems may be trying to 'pay them back' so to say...
Absolutely - spending over the next 6 months - heck, even the next year.
I feel most of us on this board can agree on this post.
>>I did not get the last stimulus and will more than likely not get this one, but it seems to me that families living paycheck to paycheck would be much better off with a lump sum payout to pay down a credit card, get out of interest payments sooner and be able to turn around and spend in the consumer market. I don't feel that many people will jump up and stimulate the economy by getting about 12 dollars more a paycheck over a long period of time.<<
I can't say I agree.
I think families would be better off having a paycheck in the first place. That means aiming the stimulus at job creation--not simply trying to win favor with your base.
I agree with you, but my point is IF they are going to give the money, wouldn't it do more to have it at once?
It's a challenge, right?

I've heard it includes $600 million for new government cars.
Here's what i thought the stimulus was going to be:
Immediate job creation with infrustruction spending (by giving money to states to start projects that may be delayed)
Tax cuts to individuals
Long term tax credits and spending on renewal energy (to kick start that industry)
Extending unemployment benefits
