The price of gas has increased so much in everyday life (food costs more, in large part to increased transportation costs) that it has caused me to consider raising my rates, charging a "materials fee" for crafts, and/or eliminating my food program and asking parents to supply their own breakfasts and lunches.
It has also caused me to drop my membership to a Children's Museum that is about 60 miles away because it just isn't worth it in the gas prices to go there anymore.
I can't say it's necessarily caused me to drive much less on a day-to-day basis though. Generally I got about 3-4 weeks out of my 40 gallon tank, and I'm still hovering right around the same.
The good news is I really do only fill up about once a month, and I get the same MPG as my older, smaller SUV (diesel has better MPG so it makes up for the larger size).
2 or 3 times a month!? I clearly NEED my huge SUV :)
Get this...my insurance went UP when we dropped our second car! I told my agent, "So, I guess I shouldn't have even bothered to tell you we sold it, huh?" It made absolutely no sense to me at all, but something to do with our multiple plan discount . Why my insurance would go up though, is still a mystery!
I'm pretty crunched for money as it is, so gas has effected me quite a bit. Not just in driving but since the price of goods has gone up it's effected what I buy too. I try to get most of my veggies from local farmer's markets, or local farms since the are I live in has several close by and they have little stores. The prices are much better for fruits and veggies than in the stores.
As far as driving goes, I don't do much of it anymore. Unfortunately many of my good friends live across town, so I don't see them nearly as often, and I put off trips to stores until I'm going other places as well. There's a cheap grocery store that carries some items I need at really good prices, but since I don't buy much there I don't go unless I'm already running around doing errands. Luckily my new(ish) job is very close to home, so I'm saving quite a bit over having a job further away. I'd love to take my daughter out for day trips to the coast, 1 1/2 hours away, but with the price of gas I haven't done that all summer.
It looks like the price has dropped a little lately, and I've been happy to see is around $3.89 in my area. Woo hoo! It's pretty sad when i think $3.89 is cheap though. I guess we've just been "conditioned" at this point.
First, I'm excited to say that gas at my neighborhood station (where I always go) dropped to $3.99 yesterday!!!!!

And I use diesel. Multiply THAT by 40 gallons ;)

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure
