of this election won't be decided until after Nov. 2? I really think that with the polls being so close that this election is going to drag out. Democrats already have lawyers lined up to dispute the votes.

Yep, they both have lawyers lined up. Why do you think Bush would be more fun to watch if he loses than Kerry?

Unless one of them wins by a landslide, I see it being drawn out.

Because he has a hard time keeping control of his temper.

Has anyone heard a specific strategy from Bush? The Kerry campaign has been talking about theirs:

<

The Kerry campaign has recount office space in every battleground state, with plans so detailed they include the number of staplers and coffee machines needed to mount legal challenges.

"Right now, we have 10,000 lawyers out in the battleground states on Election Day, and that number is growing by the day," said Michael Whouley, a Kerry confidant who is running election operations at the Democratic National Committee.

While the lawyers litigate, political operatives will try to shape public perception. Their goal would be to persuade voters that Kerry has the best claim to the presidency and that Republicans are trying to steal it.

Democrats are already laying the public relations groundwork by pointing to every possible voting irregularity before the Nov. 2 election and accusing Republicans of wrongdoing.>>

Scary. Last I heard, Kerry had 30,000 lawyers ready to go. I haven't heard anything about Bush. Doesn't this just make Kerry look bad though? Like a sore loser?

The Republican Party has acknowledged that they have 'legal operatives' and a 'legal strategy'. They have not, however, publically divulged the amount of $$ or number of people. I read the quotes from RNC spokespeople just this weekend in the newspaper -- not online, so I don't have a link, but I figure you can Google it --- it was at a minimum in the Baltimore Sun, and I assume it was a wire piece they picked up, so it should be widely available.

There's nothing surprising or sinister on either side here --- just deflating and depressing for us citizens. Given how last election went (I happened to be in London in November when we still didn't have a president-elect, and boy, the US looked like the Keystone Kops on world news), neither side is going to give an inch --- it's not a bit surprising that both sides have entrenched legal strategies, but let's not start pretending, on either side, that this somehow indicates some sort of poor loser demeanor.

>>According to campaign officials, the Kerry campaign has lined up 10,000 lawyers around the nation and has created six teams of lawyers and political operatives ready to fly anywhere in the country to battle on legal and political fronts.<<

I heard on Fox news the figure 30,000 and this one says 10,000. But this was writtten 5 days ago so the number of lawyers could have gone up.
