I work in the health care field and am very passionate about giving excellent care to all of my patients.

What is the exact reason the hospital is laying off employees?

<>

My mom was in the hospital a little over a month ago. The ratio was 1 R.N. to 2 patients. Additionally, over the years, way before this health care reform, I have spent innumerable days in hospitals taking care of family members because there simply wasn't enough staff to properly care for patients.

<

Why, precisely?

<>

There is no such insurance as "Obamacare." There will still be Medicare and Medicaid, and the currently uninsured will be required to sign up with a private insurance company.

<>

I didn't know any health care reform supporters saying this nor expecting it.

<>

Too bad they got that wrong. They most certainly will be dealing with a private insurance company.

<>

The government isn't the one providing coverage.

The exact reason for the layoffs is preparing for health care reform.

I don't get that because there is no "Obamacare." There will continue to be people covered by Medicare and Medicaid and private insurance. The only difference will be that more people are covered by private insurance.

<< I asked my manager this because I was so excited that the Children's Hospital was going to be closer to our home. He explained that there are a lot of "legal" knots that are in the health care reform that will not allow this.>>

Can you ask him where in the bill this is not allowed?

<>

I guess they'll have reality hit them when they realize there isn't "free health care" then.

<>

No. There is no such thing as Obamacare. There isn't a government run public option. There will be Medicare (which isn't going to be adding any more than usual) and Medicaid (which I doubt many more will be added because states simply don't have the money to cover that). The mandate will be for people to get private insurance coverage.

Many of the uninsured will be added to the current Medicaid system, but the others will be given exchanges to purchase into, that are private insurance.

The HCR will add between 16-20 million people to Medicaid.

Isn't this "income based"?

It is income based, but then they also get subsidies for the exchanges...again from more taxes.

Companies are seeing the effect of changing HCR and insurance.
