Where are Beck, Hannity and the other right wing hatemongers protecting Hallowed Ground? Oh yeah, this isn't important because number 1 they don't get to bash Muslims and number 2, someone wants to make money on this, so it's ok as far as the right wing is concerned......

The Gettysburg Legacy - Saying No to a Gettysburg Casino
by Civil War Preservation Trust (videos) 9:15

Filmmaker Ken Burns, author David McCullough, actors Sam Waterston, Matthew Broderick, Stephen Lang, Medal of Honor recipient Paul W. Bucha, President Eisenhower’s granddaughter Susan Eisenhower and even a haunting score by Oscar-winning composer John Williams made appearances via video at the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) hearing this morning in Gettysburg.

Susan Star Paddock, chair of the grassroots group No Casino Gettysburg, turned the Comfort Suites conference room in Gettysburg into a movie theatre for her 10-minute testimony. The professional quality video, prepared entirely by volunteers, is a plea to the PGCB to deny a license for a casino just ½ mile from the boundary of the Gettysburg National Military Park.

I think it was a reference to those television personalities who were adamant that 2 blocks from the site of ground zero was hallowed ground. They contended that a community center/mosque should not be built on what they called hallowed ground. Now the Gettysburg battlefield, which many consider "hallowed ground" is likely to be encroached upon by a crass gambling casino, and those same protectors of hallowed ground aren't stepping in and opposing it.

I heard about this today, and I agree that it's too close to the park. I'm thinking that the outrage will come, it just has to cycle thru.

The Mosque story was all about the August recess. Snow falls in January, rains come in April, and Tempests form in Teapots in the merry month of August.

First of all let me say that I am not against the Mosque near ground zero! I will add that I also do not believe all Muslims should be blamed for the actions of the radical's that came and attacked the U.S. , just as I fight against those who HATE all Christians due to the actions of some.

That said, I don't know how you can compare the two situations,

I believe you missed the point entirely. "Hallowed ground" is sacred ground, demanding of dignity and veneration in and of itself. Anything not related to the sanctity of the location is a desecration, be it a casino, community center, or anything unrelated to a memorial.

Feels just like 2008 again.

You're right, there is no comparison. But that's only a minor inconvenience to some.

' "a casino" didn't kill thousands of innocent Americans at Gettysburg.
