Where are Beck, Hannity and the other right wing hatemongers protecting Hallowed Ground? Oh yeah, this isn't important because number 1 they don't get to bash Muslims and number 2, someone wants to make money on this, so it's ok as far as the right wing is concerned......

The Gettysburg Legacy - Saying No to a Gettysburg Casino
by Civil War Preservation Trust (videos) 9:15

Filmmaker Ken Burns, author David McCullough, actors Sam Waterston, Matthew Broderick, Stephen Lang, Medal of Honor recipient Paul W. Bucha, President Eisenhower’s granddaughter Susan Eisenhower and even a haunting score by Oscar-winning composer John Williams made appearances via video at the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) hearing this morning in Gettysburg.

Susan Star Paddock, chair of the grassroots group No Casino Gettysburg, turned the Comfort Suites conference room in Gettysburg into a movie theatre for her 10-minute testimony. The professional quality video, prepared entirely by volunteers, is a plea to the PGCB to deny a license for a casino just ½ mile from the boundary of the Gettysburg National Military Park.

Not a very good comparison for a number of reasons. The girl and the mother are related while the group building the community center no ties, that we are aware of, with the bombers, merely the same religion. For your example to work you would really have to say, for example, a Catholic girl tried out and was rejected and then some random Catholic killed a cheerleader. Should/would she have the chance to be on the team now? If she had no ties to the murderer, no relationship to the murderer and no knowledge of the murderers plan I don't see why not.

How did the builders of the proposed Park 51 benefit from the Twin Towers being attacked though?

Isn't it more like: Muslim girl doesn't make squad.

I saw something about that as well, but I was left confused.

They're already there, plus porn shops, peep shows, and betting parlors.

I think that was a good analogy, but I do draw a loose association between the 9/11 group and the ones building the mosque.

They may not be out killing people and they may not be raising money for terror groups, but they are running protection for these terror groups. They refuse to condemn these terrorist acts and they refuse to condemn these terrorist groups. There is an association.

From my reading they are leasing the property from a for-profit company. Commercial leases typically make the tenant responsible for property taxes. If the taxes fail to be paid though, the government ultimately will hold the for-profit responsible for the taxes due.

How does it work when a religious organization occupies only a portion of a property? Is there a property tax for the portions of the building not exclusively used for religious or educational purposes (like the proposed coffee shop inside)? Since nothing occupies the space right now and it was purchased by the developer, I would imagine that until the building has occupants that are religious or educational, the property would be subject to property tax.

Sorry, I think 'misinformed' is my favorite excuse nowadays.

The poll was for the people of New York City.

Your example is much better than mine - that is what it is like and I think/hope most of us can see how unfair it would be to the boy.
