Where are Beck, Hannity and the other right wing hatemongers protecting Hallowed Ground? Oh yeah, this isn't important because number 1 they don't get to bash Muslims and number 2, someone wants to make money on this, so it's ok as far as the right wing is concerned......

The Gettysburg Legacy - Saying No to a Gettysburg Casino
by Civil War Preservation Trust (videos) 9:15

Filmmaker Ken Burns, author David McCullough, actors Sam Waterston, Matthew Broderick, Stephen Lang, Medal of Honor recipient Paul W. Bucha, President Eisenhower’s granddaughter Susan Eisenhower and even a haunting score by Oscar-winning composer John Williams made appearances via video at the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) hearing this morning in Gettysburg.

Susan Star Paddock, chair of the grassroots group No Casino Gettysburg, turned the Comfort Suites conference room in Gettysburg into a movie theatre for her 10-minute testimony. The professional quality video, prepared entirely by volunteers, is a plea to the PGCB to deny a license for a casino just ½ mile from the boundary of the Gettysburg National Military Park.

They are not building it on the battlefield. Gamblers didn't kill those 8000 soldiers. They are not even building it in the park. The casino will be in an existing hotel.

"Developer David LeVan, a longtime Adams County resident and onetime Conrail Inc. chairman, has proposed putting a casino in an existing hotel and conference center a half-mile from the boundary of Gettysburg National Military Park and two miles from the Mason-Dixon Line."

Quite a stretch if you ask me.

(Now, we're waiting on the protectors of hallowed ground to jump in and start a major campaign to interfere with the Gettysburg project near hallowed ground.)

Looks like there ARE some people who want it protected:

"Many residents believe a casino would rejuvenate the area's recession-ravaged economy. Many others consider it tasteless and a sign of disrespect for the sacrifices of Civil War soldiers who fought there over three days in the summer of 1863."

Sounds like it was a bitter fight, but they lost out. Just like the mosque. So.....not sure what your point is here.

Just sad that the defenders of hallowed ground didn't defend Gettysburg. Apparently some ground is more hallowed than other ground.

The bottom line is there were no M-U-S-L-I-M-S at Gettysburg - if there had been we'd see the same thing....
