Wacky Americans
- We yell for the Government to balance the budget, then take the last dime we have to make the down payment on a car.
- We whip the enemy in battle, then give them the shirt off our backs.
- We yell for speed laws that will stop fast driving, then won't buy a car if it can't go over 100 miles an hour.
- Americans get scared to death if we vote a billion dollars for education, then are unconcerned when we find out we are spending three billion dollars a year for cigarettes.
- We know the line-up of every baseball team in the American and National Leagues but don't know half the words in the "Star Spangled Banner".
- We'll spend half a day looking for vitamin pills to make us live longer, then drive 90 miles an hour on slick pavement to make up for lost time.
- We tie up our dog while letting our sixteen year old son run wild.

Who told you you have not right to those services?
Wow -- that interests me so much. So do you think your children get enough 'social' time through their various extra curricular activities?
That's a big concern of mine.
I've noticed (not just on this post) that you REALLY want everyone to know that we all benefit from the public school system.
I got it.
Now...moving on. I don't really care HOW the government does the bookkeeping of my tax dollars, but I dang sure better be able to place my child into public school sports if I want to. Even if he's homeschooled.

I'm glad you "got it" because that certainly has not been apparent from your posts, not when you complain about fairness.

Moving on?
And I've never suggested for a moment she doesn't have that right, simply that is DOES cost the other children.
I understand the school of thinking that you come from...ok?
But that does not make me a bad person...because I think my child should be able to particpate in something that my tax dollars pay for.
Like I said, HOW the government pays for it is not my problem. And I know you'll say that's selfish and blah blah blah. It's not selfish to get what you pay for. If you pay for dinner for 4 at a restaurant and you only get served 2 of the meals...you have every right to ask for (and get) the two meals that weren't given to you. Either that, or you don't have to pay for the two meals.
Same principal with homeschooled kids and public school events.
Why am I shortchanging other children?
Did their parents pay? I did.
The way I see it, if my kids aren't allowed to participate, MY kids are getting shortchanged. What am I getting for my money? I am getting ripped off.
I didn't say you were a bad person, I said you have a convenient argument.
I would suppose all this depends on your school district.
