Wacky Americans
- We yell for the Government to balance the budget, then take the last dime we have to make the down payment on a car.
- We whip the enemy in battle, then give them the shirt off our backs.
- We yell for speed laws that will stop fast driving, then won't buy a car if it can't go over 100 miles an hour.
- Americans get scared to death if we vote a billion dollars for education, then are unconcerned when we find out we are spending three billion dollars a year for cigarettes.
- We know the line-up of every baseball team in the American and National Leagues but don't know half the words in the "Star Spangled Banner".
- We'll spend half a day looking for vitamin pills to make us live longer, then drive 90 miles an hour on slick pavement to make up for lost time.
- We tie up our dog while letting our sixteen year old son run wild.

Fair enough
You are not the only one who feels like we homeschoolers take something away from your school. Again, I cannot help that the rules are set-up to hurt public schoolers. I did not set-up this rule. It is YOUR RULE - you're responsible for fixing it. So yea, it's not my problem and I don't care to fix it, I'll admit that. You care so much, you and all your friends, co-workers along with my family members all need to band together and demolish the funding flaw.
You may be working on it but you need to work harder or get others to help. It is stupid, ridiculous and not in the least bit logical but it is our government. Fighting them is exactly what I don't have time for and why I choose to homeschool.
"You might consider looking up the logical fallacy of the excluded middle."
Do you have suggested websites or books I should read?
How is it MY rule??
"Feel free to do without the products of public education. Go through and screen every service person in your life, your doctor, your dentist, your hair dresser, the clerks at the places you shop, your mechanic....make sure every one is homeschooled, because otherwise you are benefiting from the taxes other people paid, just exactly what you are objecting to here."
Remind me...why would I go around screening people? Are you suggesting that everyone who is government educated is unfit to work on my plumbing, my teeth, my hair...that is ridiculous.
Sigh....no I'm not suggesting everyone who is government educated is unqualifed to work for you -- I'm suggesting that the benefits of public education are enjoyed by the entirity of society, most certainly including folks who homeschool and THAT is why we pay taxes that support public schools even if we don't have kids, even if our kids are below or above school age and even if we homeschool our children.
Other people are also benefiting from taxes I paid and didn't use. I don't get your point.
"just exactly what you are objecting to here."
I'm unclear as to what YOU think I am objecting to. The only thing I take issue with is that people think I need to go to school for ANOTHER two years to be able to teach my child and be able to find acceptable public school alternatives. Other Moms would need four years I'm guessing and I'm also guessing they need those credentials about as much as I do. I can not imagine where they would be beneficial. If you know, then enlighten me by all means.
I'd love to.
