Your characterization of McCain's involvement with the Keating 5 scandal is a bit misleading.
Right ;)
Re: sin, the Bible has already been used to oppress women, endorse slavery, etc..

The Arab American Action Network (AAAN) was established in 1995 as a non-profit, grassroots, community-based organization working to improve the social, economic, and political conditions of Arab immigrants and Arab Americans in the Chicago Metropolitan area. The AAAN does this through adult education, social services, mediation and crisis intervention, youth programs, cultural competency trainings, and working in coalitions with other like communities. All AAAN programs include community organizing, activism, and leadership development components.
yes sheri, your characterization of the Ethics Committee is technically correct.
the problem here is: smear based on guilt by association.
Obama's casual association with Ayers (on a committee, in a living room that resulted in a $200 donation) is being used to imply that Obama is a terrorist. that he sought out a subversive group, that he supports the ideology of an anarchist, that he plans to destroy the Establishment - even if he has to resort to violent means. the continued focus on Ayers is meant to paint Obama as a terrorist - to make him scary, to play on fear. just look a the title of this thread.
if Republicans want to smear Obama in this way - using a very old, very loose association to scare people - then Democrats should do the same for McCain. thus the point is not whether or not the Ethics Committee cleared him of any formal wrong-doing. the point is that McCain had more than a casual association with Keating (very social, vacation on private jets that resulted in a $122,000 donation) who admittedly expected favors for his association. in his own words: "One question, among many raised in recent weeks, had to do with whether my financial support in any way influenced several political figures to take up my cause. I want to say in the most forceful way I can: I certainly hope so."
(Nash, Nathaniel C. and Shenon, Philip (1989-11-09). "A Man of Influence: Political Cash and Regulation: A Special Report: In Savings Debacle, Many Fingers Point Here", The New York Times.)
the misleading part of this discussion is that Obama's association with Ayers is being mischaracterized and used to generate fear - ultimately, to manipulate people who use emotion as the basis for their voting decisions.

i agree that she was picked to attrack those who are on the far right. i also think she was picked to attrack women. but what you are mentioning are her qualities, not necessarily her qualifications.

No, the misleading part of this discussion is on Obama's association with Ayers AND McCain's with the Keating 5 scandal.
