"On top of that, your medical cost (premiums and such) will not be reigned in at all.
KAREN
Karen, I am married. My husband & I are USAF vets, both with no college. VA does NOTHING to help. We are self-employed. Meaning no company health insurance. The job situation around here is not well so we can't just "get a job with bennies" (which I find as an offensive statement anyway.. don't you think if we had the opportunity to get a better job we would?). We make too much to qualify for Medicaid. We make too little to afford the $550/mo Healthy Families coverage. in NY state most of those flybynight cheap health insurance agents are no available or illegal depending on the type of company. So when something happens (like when my son cracked his head on a park bench & had to have 8 stitches which cost us $900) we pay out of pocket in payments to the hospital of what we can afford monthly. NOT easy.
THAT is my situation.
Under Obama's plan there will be no tax on you to cover ours. You are mistaking his plan for McCain's which WOULD tax your benefits and most likely increase your co-pay. Obama's plan would cut the monthly payment from $550 to about $200/mo for our family which is doable. VERY FEW people would qualify for free healthcare.. those who qualify for medicaid as it is and that's basically it. This plan helps those of us falling thru the cracks in the middle.

Who pays for your insurance? Do you pay entirely out of pocket or is this something provided as a benefit for you or your spouse through your workplace (I'm asking because the answer matters for me to explain why not reigning in the costs of insurance matters to you)

Another question for Karen: If your employer provides insurance, do you know the percent that is subsidized?

I am slowly making my way thru over 500 posts on this thread - interesting stuff.
If this has been pointed out already, forgive me - I just seek to clarify something, regarding the following:
Ayers was never convicted of a crime
That is correct - it wasn't from lack of guilt, it was based on a technicality, prosecutors

I have never heard him advocate for weakening the military, he states he wants to support the military when they are fighting and follow with support after they return
He has publically declared he will not fund future development of next-generation weapons - I'm sure
Tazoey - for some reason I couldn't reply to your screen name - so I had to do
